We leave today, and I’m writing this review with mixed emotions as I sit by the pool—still looking at the unopened waterpark that, sadly, never became available during our stay.
While this resort has many beautiful features and some truly outstanding staff, our overall experience was heavily impacted by the poor handling and communication around the waterpark closure—which was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel in the first place.
When we booked, we were assured the waterpark would be open. Upon arrival, we were told it was delayed but promised it would open the night before our departure. Our children had been looking forward to this for months. They went to bed the night before thrilled—only to wake up to yet another delay, now being told it would open today, the day we’re leaving.
What made this especially frustrating was the way it was communicated. Or rather, the way it wasn’t. There was no formal notice, no proactive updates—we had to keep asking, every single day. Even as late as 8 a.m. this morning, just two hours before the planned opening, staff were still telling guests it would open. Telling children that late in the game that something exciting is happening—only to let them down—is honestly cruel. It’s like preparing them for Christmas morning, then canceling it as they run to the tree.
The compensation we were given was appreciated, but it felt minor given the impact. Managing expectations is key in hospitality, and the first rule should be: under-promise and over-deliver. Instead, we experienced the exact opposite.
That said, there were many positives. The resort itself is lovely. We were warmly welcomed by Panos, the bellboy, who gave us a great overview of the resort. Jioann at the front desk was exceptionally kind and helpful, and Rita tried to support us as best she could regarding the waterpark situation.
The main pool is beautiful and has a vibrant, fun atmosphere. The floating tray breakfast was a unique and enjoyable experience (though it was forgotten at first—staff quickly made it right and even added a bottle of bubbles as an apology).
Dining was a real highlight. The Italian à la carte was our favorite—delicious pizza and attentive service. The buffet was excellent too, especially the Asian and Mediterranean theme nights. Huge thanks to Vasilis, the bartender at the main bar, who made creative mocktails for our kids and brought a personal, friendly vibe to our evenings.
The animation team was a standout: well-organized, high-energy, and genuinely engaging. Our kids loved the mini disco and daytime games, and the fountain show at night was a charming bonus. Lifeguards were also very present and attentive, which made us feel safe.
Some practical tips and honest observations:
• Book à la carte restaurants as soon as you arrive—they fill up quickly.
• Housekeeping is minimal: basic bed-making and towel exchange, not five-star standard.
• Spa treatments were hit or miss—one was excellent, the other average.
• With the waterpark closed, pool chairs were very hard to find.
• Breakfast and desserts could use more variety.
• Kids’ club is nice for younger children (under 9), but the schedule wasn’t closely followed, and outdoor time was limited.
• Umbrellas are prone to tipping in the wind—heavier bases would improve safety.
• Expect about an hour’s drive from the airport.
• Pools open at 10 a.m., which feels a bit late for families with early risers.
In summary: This resort has a lot of charm, great dining, and truly lovely staff—but the way the waterpark situation was handled overshadowed all of that for us. The lack of honest, timely communication and the emotional rollercoaster it caused for our children changed what could have been a 4- or even 5-star stay into a 2-star experience. Better transparency and realistic expectations would have made all the difference.
