Arawana Express Phromphong 

Just finished a four night stay at Arawana and had a very pleasant experience. Don’t let the negative comments concern you - the staff were lovely and the room was clean, comfortable, and perfectly located for my time in Sukhumvit. As budget hotels go, especially in Thailand, this place was great. Some points of note: Bed: I live in Thailand and have stayed in many hotels, guest houses, and hostels and let me tell you, other than my mattress at home, this was one of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept in in all of Thailand. The mattress and pillows were soft (mattress might even be a little on the overly soft side if you’re someone who likes a firm mattress), they provided two pillows per person instead of just one, and the blanket was a proper comforter, not just a top sheet or thin little blanket. All bedding was clean and turndown service was provided daily. AC: worked great, cooled down the room very quickly, but this time of year (January) I sometimes just had it off or on fan setting because it’s not too hot outside. I was even on the fourth floor, and didn’t feel too hot at all. Shower: nice hot water and good water pressure from both the rain shower head and the shower wand. Didn’t drain very well, they need to do a de-clogging on the drain, but that happens from time to time to showers and they probably just haven’t noticed yet. Kitchenette: I didn’t really use this other than the electric kettle, sink, and fridge, but it’s nice to have. The kettle needed to be cleaned out because I think some moron tried to make coffee in it, but again it’s probably just a case of it being a device that doesn’t often need maintenance so they hadn’t noticed. I just cleaned it out with the dish soap and sponge provided and it was no big deal. They also provided two free water bottles daily with the turndown service. Wifi: this is my only real complaint and reason for docking a star. The WiFi is pretty crap. When I was connected it was slow, and every 2-15 minutes it would randomly disconnect and take forever to reconnect. I had hoped to get a bit more work done from my room but could only do so much. It worked a bit better on my phone than on my computer for some reason, but not a ton better. Location: can’t be beat. You’re literally directly upstairs from a 7/11, next door to a weed shop, across the street from a delicious coffee shop, around the corner from a grocery store, a 3 minute walk to the BTS station, and a 5 minute walk to EmQuartier. Room size: my room was much smaller than the photos, but I was traveling alone so it didn’t bother me. Smell: man people in the comments LOVE to complain about the smell in the rooms. It’s silly. When I first got in the room I could tell what they were talking about, but it wasn’t a harsh chemically smell, just an overly fragranced air freshener or cleaner smell. It’s floral/fruity. Very strong at first, but it fades pretty quickly. By the time I left I couldn’t smell it at all anymore. If you’re overly sensitive or allergic to artificial fragrances, it may be a problem for you, but otherwise it’s REALLY not a big deal. Just open the window for an hour and you’ll be fine! Toto bolo moje pravidelné ubytovanie posledných 10 rokov a vybral som si ho kvôli jeho dobrej polohe, mikrovlnnej rúre a chladničke (kuchynská linka) a bolo nedávno zrekonštruované a má 7-Eleven na prvom poschodí, vďaka čomu je ešte pohodlnejšie. . Okrem toho je cena primerane nízka. Ak máte od miestnosti veľké očakávania, mali by ste si vybrať niečo iné. Najmä údržba vodnej plochy je úprimne zlá. K dispozícii je tiež Wi-Fi, ale zabezpečenie je slabé a pripojenie sa neustále odpája. Ak chcete pohodlne využívať internet, pripravte si samostatný spôsob. Samotný hotel je prijateľný pre ľudí, ktorí tolerujú lacné hotely v Ázii, ale úprimne povedané, nie je to možné pre ľudí, ktorí nemajú radi nedostatok zubných kefiek alebo vybavenia na izbe, ale personál je priateľský.

Hrozný zážitok. Sú 3 hodiny ráno, cestoval som 27 hodín a nechcú ma odbaviť. Agora a rezervácia netrvá predchádzajúci deň, keďže je polnoc. Ich automat na karty nefunguje. Recepčná o 3:00 nechce vziať môj pas ako záruku. Povedal mi, aby som odišiel do iného hotela. Nezostávajte tu.
