I was a solo female traveler. One day I left a "do not disturb"sign on my door all day and they called with concerns and making sure I was ok. Tacos were good. Some of the specialty restaurants were just ok and didn't serve mixed drinks. The breakfast buffets had something for everyone, I liked that the coffee came in carafes. The pools were really good at separating families with kids and the adults. Their parties were very well done and the kids seemed to enjoy the entertainment geared towards them. The beach side pools were beautiful, the beach isn't friendly for swimming, 30 minute walk into town up the beach but it's not a lazy stroll. Beautiful view. The rooms are beautiful, very nice shower but hot water was half to come buy during peak hours. Do your research on Excursions. Be wary of going too far for anything. Nothing is guaranteed when scuba diving or snorkeling and you don't get your money back. The little bay around the rocks is plenty, if you go further, many of the areas, you need to be a strong and experienced swimmer. *I'm a really good swimmer, some companies will take you out even if difficult waters and no money back if you don't go. The resort is 4 stories, request a ground floor or 1st (2nd in the US, if you have bad knees.

As a travel agent committed to thoroughly understanding the all-inclusive experiences available in Mexico and the Caribbean, I recently spent 5 nights at the RIU Santa Fe in Cabo San Lucas. The resort certainly has its highlights. Its charming adobe-style design and wide array of amenities create an inviting first impression. Guests can enjoy 10 swimming pools, many with swim-up bars, and 10 bars, including some paired with stunning infinity pools. For families and thrill-seekers, the two water parks—one for kids and one for adults—are a great addition. The resort also hosts lively themed parties throughout the week, such as neon and pink parties, offering a vibrant atmosphere in designated areas while keeping quieter spaces for those seeking tranquility.
Cleanliness is another strong point of the RIU Santa Fe. The staff works tirelessly to maintain the property, and their efforts do not go unnoticed. This dedication to upkeep, combined with the resort's affordability, attracts a diverse mix of guests, including families, couples, solo travelers, and seniors. For those looking for a budget-friendly getaway with plenty of activities, it’s easy to see the appeal.
However, there are notable downsides. The biggest disappointment was the dining experience. While the resort offers six restaurants and multiple buffets, much of the food felt repetitive, with buffet items often reappearing in the à la carte restaurants. As a pescatarian traveling with a meat eater, I found the vegetarian options uninspired and often bland. Simple dishes, like vegetarian enchiladas, were surprisingly unappetizing, and even simple nacho cheese was watered down and flavorless. While meat eaters may fare better, the lack of thoughtful vegetarian options left a poor impression and has made me hesitant to recommend RIU properties without further research into their dining quality.
The beach is another drawback. The sand is coarse and pebbly, with a steep slope that makes it uncomfortable for walking or lounging. Additionally, the ocean in this area is dangerous and not suitable for swimming. Guests hoping to enjoy long walks on a powdery beach or spend hours playing in the surf will be disappointed. This is not the resort for a beach-focused vacation.
Another issue was the firmness of the beds. They were so firm that I woke up multiple times each night, making restful sleep difficult. This is worth noting for anyone who values a comfortable sleeping environment. However, I did ask the staff to bring several extra blankets and they were happy to do so.
Finally, while the resort offers a variety of drink options, beer lovers may be disappointed by the lack of variety—Dos Equis is the only beer available throughout the property.
In summary, the RIU Santa Fe has many appealing features, including affordability, cleanliness, and a lively atmosphere with plenty of activities. However, the lackluster dining experience, uncomfortable beds, and limited beach usability make it a mixed bag. I would recommend this resort only to budget-conscious travelers who prioritize pools, parties, and a bustling environment over gourmet dining or relaxing beach days.

My review may sound hypocritical..my feedback in more in regards to the policies of the resort. We had a few situations where the policies made no sense:
1) were told some of the restaurants had "a dress code". We came from the pool to the Italian restaurant. I had an NBA jersey on. One other woman in my group has a sleeveless shirt on. I was told I was unable to enter the restaurant because I had no sleeves on. Sounds a bit sexist to me. Especially since there is no signs anywhere listing such rules especially since we left the day party the resort hosted.
2) when we went to the culinary restaurant we did have an infant with us. The infant got fussy during dinner and one of us decided to take her back to the room to be put to bed. The rest of us that stayed asked if we can have the food order to go to ensure we all ate. We were told policy does not allow that. Which makes no sense, is room service not allowed for each restaurant in the resort? Given we have a child and didn't want to disrupt others eating are we not allowed to eat our food in the room?
I want to make it known this is a review of the policies of the resort..not of the workers. They were all beyond nice and attentive. We tipped them all as they are not to blame for the resorts clear horrendous policies. I just hope the resort changes its policies in the future especially since any image it wants to uphold sounds contradictory given the events they host here.

This is honestly the worst hotel I have ever stayed at in my entire life. First room was so dirty ( spit on mirror in bathroom ) dirty countertops, shower , etc. the room was never cleaned the bed was just put together. Went downstairs to the lobby which was like a maze! Spoke to someone after traveling 14 hours nonstop and explained how it was unacceptable with 1 ( not being there fault ) we were placed at the wrong hotel because they “overbooked” when we payed months before hand….. 2 walking into a filthy room. He was nice enough to upgrade us into a bigger and better space. Still not up to par still not 100% clean. It was terrible from start to finish. I was suppose to stay for a week and I only spent 1 night and booked a flight out the next day. Food was terrible. Very over crowded. This was not a vacation spot. This is somewhere you stay if you win a free get away.
