Lorenzo at the snack Riviera was my waiter for breakfast everyday and was incredibly hard working, polite, and always knew my drinks and would have them at my table ready to go each morning. He was very professional, yet fun and it was obvious he really enjoyed meeting and talking to people. Hands down one of the best staff members I've met (although all were great) and he went above and beyond for everyone in his section to ensure everyone was happy.

I would strongly recommend never coming here. Worst honeymoon.
1. The food is awful. Even the a la cartes are inedible in some regards. We went to La Fondue and they brought us well done steak to dip into swiss cheese. I thought it was going to be much more of a fondue experience as I've had in Canada but it was much worse. The teppenyaki we got the only chef who didn't do any tricks or anything. Just fried the food, served it and left. At la fleur we experienced decent food, except the chicken which is listed as tender chicken, but turned out to be homemade chicken cordon bleu which she found inedible. And the buffet was excruciatingly painful to eat at. They say they change the food every night but it's the same things with a different face. Plus the breakfast and lunch was so greasy and disgusting. The only thing I found edible that they had cooked was the Barbacoa and even then you had to put tortillas down underneath to soak the incredible amount of oil out of it. The only safe things to eat were things they didn't cook at the buffet. The only food we found that was edible was the tacos at the stand by the pool which they grilled the chicken right there and not fried in cheap oil.
2. The cleanliness and state of the hotel was a joke. We visited once in 2019 and the pillars in the pool were freshly painted and charming, but we were facing the family side in our room and we're delighted to see a significant amount of crumbling and debris from the building. Our bedroom was cleaned daily if you want to call it that but our tub wasn't cleaned once since we arrived and we paid extra for the tub so we cleaned it so it was acceptable. That also brings up the state of the hotel. We couldn't get one decent shower the whole time. We complained to the concierge who said they'd send someone but nobody ever came. The shower would be hot and warm, and then pressure would drop and you'd get slapped with cold water. Hot would come back but it would just repeat. Every 2 minutes about it would do that. Almost every facet of keeping up appearances you could see where they either gave it the landlord special or did nothing. Even the coconut trees on tbe beach. You' think theyd remove them so nobody would get hurt, but I was sitting beside a man when a coconut fell and hit him. Not what I'd call a luxury experience.
3. They're trying to sell things to you everywhere. It's like living real life on Netflix with ads. Hi, I'm already here, I paid thousands to be here, get out of my face with the advertising. They have so many booths with people trying to get your attention and get you to book. Their spa staff will come right up to you while you're trying to relax on the beach and try to sell you services. They're not cheap either. It's cheaper to go to a registered massage therapist in Canada and get a massage than it is to get a massage at the resort. I think it was 127 us for a 50 minute massage. It's about 70 us to get a 50 minute massage in Canada. Is it because their facilities or staff is expensive? They don't repair or maintain facilities well or pay their workers much, so I doubt it.
4. They try to sell you to their travel club. They stick a card in your room saying bring this to the front desk in your first 24 hours to get a gift. Then they whisk you away to their sales staff to waste 4 hours of your time. Also they continuously said we're going for special breakfast. Like 4 people mentioned special breakfast. Turns out special breakfast is the buffet but with a sales person now sitting with you. They absolutely refuse to tell you prices until the end. It took 4 hours to get through this process and our gift? A 4 dollar magnet we could have bought at the local convenience store in playa that says "playa del carmen". They also gave us a 4 day vacation to be claimed in the next month and used in the next year, and a card to take to the jewelry store for a tacky aztek calendar pendant that took 3 days to get because they kept sending us away.
5. Service. Overpowering every drink. Hard to drink.
Never going to mexico again
