We recently stayed at the Hotel Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas and had a generally pleasant experience, though there were some challenges, especially as parents traveling with a 12-month-old baby. The Positives: The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, consistently going above and beyond to assist guests. The cleanliness of the hotel is impeccable, with well-maintained rooms and common areas. And, of course, the margaritas were fantastic—a highlight of the trip! The Negatives: For a hotel that is family-friendly, there were notable shortcomings in accessibility and amenities for young children: • Accessibility: Navigating the resort with a stroller was cumbersome. The main amenities, like the pools and beach, have only one ramp, which is inconveniently located and requires guests to go out of their way. There’s also a need for more elevators. • Dining: High chairs were often unavailable, as the staff mentioned there were more children than expected. Additionally, there’s a lack of baby-friendly food options such as yogurt, berries, or other simple items for infants. • Rooms: Despite requesting a quiet room for our baby to nap, the noise levels were disruptive. The doors are not soft-closing, leading to frequent loud bangs, and sound carries easily from the hallways. • Staff Knowledge: While friendly, the staff seemed inconsistent in their knowledge about restaurant offerings and menus, which made planning meals more difficult. Overall, while we appreciated the hospitality, cleanliness, and atmosphere, improvements in accessibility, dining options for young children, and soundproofing would significantly enhance the experience for families.
