The Harlow Hotel is part of the Accor range and therefore are expected to have certain standards.
On arrival, I was placed in a twin room even though the booking clearly said Double so had to asked to be changed.
The bar area does not open on time, I waited from 4.50pm to 5.45pm just for someone to arrive and several people were already queuing. There are no beers on tap, apparently it is broken but has been broken for over a week now with no date fixed to mend it. The hotel also doesn’t have regular bar staff anymore, and considering it is coming upto Christmas, it gets very busy in the bar. The only person serving is a young lad who’s employed as a ‘runner’ taking food orders from the bar to the kitchen, but he isn’t trained as a bar person, however, the management see it fit to use his limited skills to serve customers. Again, no bar staff for over a week now.
The food is not great, ordered a chicken burger special, it came out cold so I sent it back to be heated up, and it came out cold again.
The management hide away from the public area, I have been trying to find one before I go to work and when I get back but no one is about, not even a duty manager.
Considering the company I work for have booked out approx 15 room all week for the past 3 weeks, I am in a good position to give this review and state, I won’t be staying here next week, and am very disappointed with so many things in this hotel.
The rooms are spacious, with the standard TV, hot drinks etc but that’s the only positive I can think of.
When asking the receptionist, runner what is going on, they do not have any answers, which is managements problem for not providing either training or the answer to obvious questions which they get asked.
Where are the bar staff?
When will the optic taps be fixed?
Why is there no management around in the evening?
